How can marking a “home check” day on the calendar each month keep small defects under control?

By choosing one day each month as a “home check” day, you turn maintenance into a simple ritual. On that day, you walk slowly through each room and intentionally look at ceilings, corners, around windows, under sinks, along skirting boards. You’re not fixing everything on the spot, just noticing and listing.

You might write down: “small crack in bedroom corner,” “tap slightly dripping,” “seal lifting near shower,” “paint bubbling near balcony door.” Some things you can fix yourself; others you plan for when you call a professional.

The point is to catch issues early while they’re still small. A few minutes of focused checking each month keeps your home from surprising you in unpleasant ways later.
