How can adding a floor lamp in a dark corner change the way the whole room feels in the evening?

Featured in:

Every room has at least one gloomy corner – the space behind a sofa, near a balcony door, or between two pieces of furniture. At night, that dark patch can make the whole room feel uneven, with one over-bright light and one area that disappears into shadow.

Placing a floor lamp in that corner fills the space with soft, indirect light. Instead of a single overhead source flattening everything, you get layered lighting. The room feels deeper, warmer and more inviting. You can choose when to use it – just the lamp for a cosy mood, or combined with other lights for more brightness.

The lamp also visually anchors that corner. Add a plant or a small table nearby, and suddenly it becomes a nook instead of a dead zone. One lamp can genuinely transform evening atmosphere with hardly any construction.
