How can labelling leftover paint tins clearly help with future touch-ups or small repair jobs?

Featured in:

After painting, most people shove half-used tins into a corner and forget which room they belong to. Years later, when a wall gets chipped or you patch a crack, you stand in front of a pile of dusty tins with faded labels, trying to guess which “Off White 03” matches the living room.

If you take a minute at the end of the project to write on each tin – “Living Room walls, May 2025,” “Bedroom ceiling,” “Kids’ room accent wall” – you save your future self a big headache. When a small repair comes up, you can grab the right tin immediately and do a quick, clean touch-up.

It also helps you see which paints are too old to keep and which are still usable, so you’re not storing useless, dried-up cans for years.
